Q & A

I have been guiding in the high mountains since 1995... A long time!

UIAGM/IFMGA High Mountain Guide - ISIA/ISTD Ski and Snowboard Teacher/Performance Coach

My first mentors in the guiding world were Chamonix based guides Dave Cumming and Ralf Tenbrink. I think I owe most of what I do today to these guys. I am also constantly learning from, and influenced by, all of my fellow professionals who share my passion for the mountains.

This season I'm looking forward to exploring the Pyrenees a little bit more on both the Spanish and French sides. The Splitboarding potential here is incredible, the mountains, for the most part are wild, uninhabited and right here on my doorstep a couple of hours from the Surf. I'm also looking forward to hitting Chamonix again for my BC courses. Now that I don't live there full time I think I enjoy it even more than I did whilst living there. In terms of lift access to wild places, Chamonix is very hard to beat. I'll be visiting Lofoten again in Norway for my annual 'summit to sea' Split trip, and then the real icing on the cake this winter will be a return to the East Coast of Greenland for another Splitboarding expedition into the great unknown.
