Q & A

Talk about your most epic splitboard adventure:

My most epic splitboard adventure has been into the remote ends of the Pasayten Wilderness in Northern Washington. I spent 6 nights on a self-supported snow camping mission with a crew of 4 other people. We carried all of our supplies about 20 miles into untracked forest this past spring and rode some incredible terrain with no other signs of humans all week. We drank water unfiltered from the river and slept under the stars, doing our best to stay warm and dry. Our timing was incredible and we got to see some of the most beautiful and desolate terrain that not a lot of people visit even in the summer. Standing on top of far away ridgelines and riding through arbitrary stands of tamarack trees was incredible, to say the least.

What has most influenced your backcountry riding?

I grew up in the rural north woods of Michigan so I feel at home in the backcountry walking around in the trees and mountains. I love being outside and being totally immersed in my surroundings so I am continually influenced by new terrain and ever-changing conditions. I am obsessed with creating lines that flow down the mountainsides and add to the aesthetic of the natural landscapes.

What are you most excited about for the 23/24 season?

I am looking forward to seeing what the weather does and taking some long walks in the woods! I want to find some good conditions to open it up on!

What inspires you?

My family, all of my snowboarding friends in all different aspects of riding inspire me, as well as, big mountain skiers and mountaineers!
