Solves an issue with the Burton hitchhiker toe ladder has
Too bad the black ones were out of stock because I think that’s what most people are using on their spark bindings. I actually went to Burton to buy their toe ladders and found out that the shape is a little different so they don’t really fit. I’m really glad that spark started offering just the toe ladders. Previously I bought two backcountry repair kits but I’ve only used the toe ladders out of them. I didn’t want to have to buy another kit. Now I can add this to my backcountry repair kit.
It seems that my habit of riding a T-bar ski lift (setting my rear foot blindly in front of the rear binding when embarking) may be detrimental to the ladder strap if the strap happens to be awkwardly under my foot! Last week the replacement strap I had put on the binding gave way exactly like the first one: cracked just above the hinge end. Luckily it did not break totally in two, and I could ride gently down.
I wonder if you could warn others not to subject the ladder strap to heavy force 90 degree bending :-).
Always carry an extra, thanks Spark!
