Thanks for coming to the Whitefish show of My Own Two Feet

Posted on November 25, 2008

Greetings,

I had a great time last week up in Whitefish Montana at the premier of My Own Two Feet. Met lots of great people up there. This was the first time I met Chris Edmands, Mr. Leeward Cinema himself, along with featured rider Forrest Shearer. It’s a long drive from Cali, but Chris and Forrest we’re stoked to be there and meet the public. This show was promoted by Ian Crawford. Ian is the man. Check out his sandwich board of “My Own Two Feet” posters, with matching hat. Ian ran around at the Banff Mountain Film Festival to promote the movie, hire that guy when you need help.

Ian is the man!

The winner of the Jeremy Jones promodel was pumped! Forrest presents, Chris keeps a hold on those valuable raffle tickets.

Thanks again to everyone that made it out, see you in cyberspace.

Hey there,

We’re heading up to Whitefish Montana for a screening of “My Own Two Feet”. Director Chris Edmands and photographer Canyon Florey will be there. The show is at the Whitefish Central School’s auditorium. Doors open at 7:00 pm, the movie starts at 8:00 pm. Admission is $10. We’ll have a table set up there so drop by and say howdy.

Cheers,

Will

p.s. The Paul Overby benefit party “Pillage In The Village” went off last week, more on that later. Thanks to all that made it!

Hello out there in splitboard land,

This friday, November 14th there will be a fundraiser for Big Sky snowboard instructor Paulie Overby. In September Paulie walked a friend home from the bar in Bozeman, after leaving the door he noticed three guys trying to steal his friend’s moped. During the ensuing confrontation one of them attacked him from behind, kicking him in the head repeatedly once he was on the ground. Every bone in Paulie’s face was broken, along with a number of his teeth. Police were on the scene in minutes and had to administer CPR, they said that he had about 10 minutes to live if he was alone. Paul was flown to Billings, Montana by helicopter and stabilized. He’s had two surgeries involving wiring his jaw shut, placing eight plates in his face and lower jaw and three in each eye socket. Amazingly he’s recovering quote well. After a long stay in Billings due to the amount of head trauma he sustained (he doesn’t remember the week after his attack), Paulie’s back in Bozeman. His sense of humor is also recovering, when asked how he felt, he said “better than when I cut the tip of my finger off the day before” (Paul works in construction). What a week! Paul has amassed approximately $2 million dollars in hospital bills and will be out of work for another 3-4 months. This Friday’s event is the “Pillage in the Village” at the Black Bear Bar and Grill in Big Sky. There will be a bbq (6-8pm), three ski and snowboard films (7-10pm), a raffle and a band at the event(10pm-Close). Tickets for the event are $15 (bbq is an additional $9), all of it going towards Paulie’s hospital bills.

There is also an account set up for Paul at Big Sky Western Bank (FBO: Paul Overby, PO Box 818 Bozeman MT 59771 406.587.2922) for monetary donations. I’m still in shock that something like this happened in my home town, just for doing the right thing. You can read more about Paulie at the following links:

In no particular order, I’d like to thank the following people for donating prizes to the cause:
Paul Ferrel at Mervin/Libtech/Gnu/Bent Metal
Paul Maravetz at Rome
Russell Slaugh at Black Diamond
Frankie Devlin and Casey Huffman at Ride Snowboards
Stephen Koch
Pete Wagner and Jason Laflamme at Winterstick
Ray Kovarsky at Burton Snowboards
Jeremy Jones
Tony Montoya from Monster
Dean Thompson from Prior Snowboards

The driving force behind this event is Liz Welles, buy her a beer if you see her!
