Environmentally Conscious Shred Film “My Own 2 Feet” Comes To The Emerson
“My Own Two Feet”, premiering Thursday, Sept. 11th. at the Emerson Cultural Center, is the result of months of hiking, traversing, winter camping and sub-zero nights in some of the most remote and undocumented terrain on earth. The entire film was shot in the Sierras, in wilderness areas illegal to all motorized vehicles. This all star cast will be uncovering new terrain that has yet to be seen in any other snowboard film, creating a truly unique film experience. With eighteen of the best and most diverse riders (from progressive freestylers to big mountain pioneers), these athletes have signed on to an adventure like no other. They will be exploring one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world, in the most environmentally sustainable style. Never before have athletes come together to make such a statement about something so important to all of us. As climate change further impacts our mountain areas, it is time for the influential leaders in the industry to stand up and make a statement. Athletes, industry leaders, and film producers need to lead by example. This film showcases a more responsible attitude as it relates to the environment. To preserve the winters we all enjoy, the cast and crew of My Own 2 Feet have set out to help change the mindset of the entire winter sports community. But at the end of the day, this film will showcase the essence of snowboarding – capturing some of the most progressive performances, without the aid of helicopters or lifts, simple pleasures with good friends, and in the most pristine mountain environments. This is truly the sport at its core.
Chris Edmands and Leeward Cinema have generously donated this film to help raise funds and awareness for a variety of charities and projects around the world. For the Bozeman premiere, proceeds from the event and raffle will go toward Big Sky Youth Empowerment(BYEP) and The Big Sky Community Park Film. BYEP has worked very closely with local businesses to create a raffle not commonly found at your usual shred movie premiere. Thanks to our local supporters, along with the typical raffle swag, BYEP will be offering a variety of unique prize packages; like a massage/foot therapy session/hot springs pass package, or a day of splitboarding for 2 from Spark R & D(includes free rental boards, bindings, instruction, and guide). One lucky winner from this premiere will also be entered into the grand prize raffle for a chance to win a unique shred vacation. Thousands of dollars in prizes, and all for a good cause! The Big Sky Community Park Film “Water To Wine” teaser will also make its debut this evening. Come and see some heavy local skiing/snowboarding and get a glimpse of what the Storm Shadow crew was up to during one of the sickest seasons on record. Kick the season off right on Thursday, Sept. 11th. at the Emerson Cultural Center. Two showings starting at 700 PM and 900 PM. Tickets are $10 at the door(includes 1 free raffle ticket). For additional information contact the Emerson Cultural Center @ 587-9797 or swing in and ask the crew at World Boards.
We’ll see you there!
